Digital Grin Photo Of The Year 2007

This is it, folks - the one you have all been waiting for :barb What do you think is, the Dgrin Photo Of The Year 2007

It's easy. Send an email to dgrin@email.smugmug.com, with the word dgrinphoto in the subject line. Attach your photo and in the body of the email write your name and the name of the Dgrinner that took the shot. If you don't, the submission will be ineligible. More help on email uploading, here. Please, only one entry per Dgrinner. The photo may be yours, or someone else's, provided that:

It was taken in 2007.
It was shared on Digital Grin. This includes all forums, including the challenges.

Example:

Submissions must be received before February 10, 2008, California time.

Every Dgrinner is eligible, including the moderators. The photos will be screened for duplicates, and posted in this gallery. By entering your photo, you consent to allowing us to put all the photos in the above linked gallery on dgrin.smugmug.com, and use them on the Digital Grin forums as well. Voting will be in two rounds. First on all photos, then a finalist round for the top 10. Rules can be added or amended at any time by me, or any of the moderators.

The winner will receive bragging rights. There can be only one!

NOTE (Feb 22): As with the LPS finale, only votes from users registered prior to this poll will be accepted!

I'm glad Dgin is doing this again. I thought that the photo of the year was going
to come only from the LPS challenges.

I was very lucky last year to have won this with a photo from a challenge
that did win the challenge it was in.

What I'm saying is that every picture has a shot at this.
So enter your best or favorite shot.

I do have one question?

What min/max size would you like for the entries?

Hi Dave, preferably the long side is approximately 800px. Larger, or (a little) smaller is no problem. If it is too small to see, I'll ask for a different version

What are the guidelines as far as photo vs. montage/collage work done?

Would something like my work shown HERE count?

Silly question.. Maybe.. If the photo was TAKEN in 2007, but not shared on dgrin until 2008, is it eligible?

This is not a silly question at all, and got me (and others) thinking for a bit. By process of elimination we got to the answer : "yes, it is eligible"

(If we would not allow it, it would mean it could never be eligible for a DPOTY contest. Next year, it would have to be taken in '08.)

They go to a 'holding gallery' and then get moved to the contest gallery. Is your photo there now? If not, let me know

I sent an entry in today but I also see that one of my shots has been nominated by someone else. Is this okay or can there only be one entry of a dgrinnner no matter what?

Ivar, do you have to physically attach a copy of the photo or can you include a link to the gallery? I know last year there were lots of problems with emails getting through and mine was one that didn't. It appears to me that some entrants have used a link, but maybe they are doing both?

By these rules, I would have to say you're good to go as long as the photo was actually posted to DGrin and, thus, shared. There's no time specified in ivar's post.
