Maybe not a twist, but a bend.

This was done in CS5 with a plugin called Pixel Bender.

    Hi Dave,

Well done. I love the painterly effect.

Pretty cool resulting effect using this super nice baseline image.
It works seriously well with it. thumb.gifthumbthumb.gif
This particular effect is one of my favorites. Will have to look into the
plugin your using as I arrive at similar manually. Which is no biggy to get there. :D

    Thanks everyone.

It's really a fun, easy plugin that's free.

    1006337684_hiThM-L.jpg

What's kind of neat about it is you can do some painting yourself on the photo, then apply the plugin.

This was Davev's only option. Doing paint by numbers is too tough for him. It requires counting past the #3. rolleyes1.gif

All kidding aside, this is great stuff Davev. It takes a good eye to know what will work in this process not to mention great images to begin with.

How does the "boss" look with this process? headscratch.gif

Can you post the original Mesa Arch photo. If it is anything like your art effect it is a good one.

    Adam, thanks.

People for the most part, or at least the people pictures that I have, don't really turn out that well with this.

I have one of my 12 year old niece that's OK, but it's only because of her beautiful thick hair.
This is a layered shot, with the underlying layer being her face slightly painted, and the top layer getting the full treatment.

Absolutely stunning treatments! I love them all!

Not to hijack this thread but is there a way to accomplish such an edit in CS3? I know pixel bender is only available for CS4 and 5 only and I'd very much like to attempt something like this myself. Thanks!

Thanks for the Mesa Arch shot. I love that place, how many people were there the day you shot this. What a nice clear day you had, I like that you left it dark enough to see the subtle rays of the sun in the distance.

Lots of folks there that day.

I am having zero success in downloading and installing this on my Windows 7 machine with 64 bit CS5. I think it has something to do with Administrator privileges which I know nothing about. headscratch.gif
