I'm still shaky on the whole feeds concept, but I came across an issue while trying to get piclens to work on my site... here's the e-mail I received back from them...
Hi Anthony,

I checked the source code for your webpage and also the rss feed.
The reason why piclens works on the first link but not on the second one is probably due to errors in the rss feed from smugmug.
Try comparing the two rss feeds:
The one that works is:
http://www.brandolinoimaging.com/hack/feed.mg?Type=popularNickname&Data=BrandolinoImaging&format=atom03
The one that does not work is:
http://www.brandolinoimaging.com/hack/feed.mg?Type=nicknamePopular&Data=BrandolinoImaging&format=atom03

I think making the underlined texts the same should resolve the problem.

Any ideas? I know piclens is not a SM product, but I'm wondering why Andy's and Mike Lane's sites work with it (on every gallry I tried) but mine will not...
Thanks

How about a brief description of what piclens is ? ne_nau.gif

But I hazard a guess that's it due to have External Links disabled.

Yeah, probably external linking needs to be enabled, as DevBobo mentioned. Also, for it to display properly (see large images when you zoom), you have to log out. Works great with All Thumbs. Really neat stuff.

    To recap:

    - Download PicLens plug-in
    - Go to one of your SmugMug galleries with a lot of photos and external linking enabled.
    - Make sure you're logged out
    - Select All Thumbs view
    - Hover over one of your photos, and when it shows up, click on the "Play" button
    - Marvel!

I'm not sure if you had a chance to look at the link posted about this Lenpic addon, but it seems that the addon works for my site IF I am at
www.brandolinoimaging.smugmug.com galleries, but not if it is www.brandolinoimaging.com (w/o the SM part) Would the customized URL, (forwarding) change the feeds?

Your feed is working fine for me:
    http://www.brandolinoimaging.com/hack/feed.mg?Type=popularNickname&Data=BrandolinoImaging&format=atom03

    We'll keep looking...

    External links are not disabled...
As I posted earlier, there seems to be a difference in whether I'm at
    www.brandolinoimaging.com
    verses
    www.brandolinoimaging.smugmug.com
I only mention feeds since the piclens folks mentioned it...

I also noticed that Andy's site works in every gallery I've checked... he's using relative links instead of the full vanity url link...

hmm, earlier....sorry can't seem to see that in your original post.

and for the record, 5 out of 5 galleries that I have tried in that original feed, have external links disabled.

OK, sorry I should have given a direct link

    http://www.brandolinoimaging.smugmug.com/gallery/1070220 works

    http://www.brandolinoimaging.com/gallery/1070220 does not...

does not matter if external link enabled or not...

Here's the link to the product www.piclens.com it re-directs to the portion of the site that matches the browser you're using...
    Thanks for your time...

There's another issue with the feeds (well, assuming you get yours working at all, Anthony) is that even if you get PicLens to work, when you double-click to expand an image to full-size, it comes up as a thumbnail instead of filling the screen with a scaled original image, as it does for Google Images search, Flickr and other sites that provide MRSS feeds.

I believe it's related to the fact that SmugMug serves up the Thumbnail as the default image size (as opposed to Original, Large, etc.).

I'm not sure why SmugMug does that. Dev?

Nik -- check this other thread. There's a new version of the PicLens plug-in that fixes things with SmugMug, mainly.
