Here are three simple tutorials we hope will encourage you to try something new.

The Hot Seat

A lifelong interest in landscape photography has led Eyal Oren to make a study of his adopted hometown of Marblehead, MA. As you can see, his dedication is paying off!

Post your Moon shots
Hey guys/gals,

I'm always intrigued by how different photographers see and photograph the same thing, differently...

The only thing that I'm fairly sure we all see the same, is the moon.

Post up your pics --- let's see how different they look

I'll start -- "I posted this one a while back"

NJ must be a longer way from TX than I thought...Your view of the moon is from the opposite side

Nice shot

Wow...

Can we put focal lengths in our posts? I would love to know what range gets what kind of shots.

Mines just my canon 400mm L f5.6 prime. Cropped photo of course but the lens is that sharp its lets you crop that heavy.

The moon was not as easy to expose as i first expected though & one must remember that its really honking along at a decent clip so i would never use slower than say 1/200.

What technique is involved here? The moon has never looked this way to me (is that how it looks in TX ?)! It's fabulous -- if I had taken it, it'd be printed at 24x30 and framed! Honestly -- stunning. KD

Cool shots guys

KED,

Thanks for the kind words.

The process that I used to make this image is the following:
  • Take a picture of the moon properly exposed.
  • Open image in PS2 --- create a "levels" layer. Move middle slider till you get this look --- easy as pie
Now, go make you one

Mars looks suspiciously like your moons to me. Great shots anyway.
