    Thank you I feel better now. :sick In the future I will make sure that all my posts have at least one food shot. I want to do everything I can to keep you happy. :bs

    No problem I have a ton of gator shots I haven't posted yet. Thank you that flock of egrets is one of my fav. If you think that shot is amazing you should see Fish's car now that they have completed their flyby. rolleyes1.gif

    Nice shots, Harry! How can you be sure your egret is not blown anywhere?

    Love the reflection of his wings in the water.

    Did you throw the gator Andy's ribs, so you could get away?

    You just didn't want to tell him did you?

    Are you sick today? Or lazy? Or busy? You could just walk out in your backyard again. We are impressed. Did you have to pay extra for property with birds?

    The ducks almost look like decoys very sharp, the red breasted bird is a robin ?must be from that family ? you only got a gator were are the big cats ? if andys eating habits are what you say is that why he shoots a canon ????????you can kill anything with a nixon Jeff

    Hi Ginger,

    Its simple when I open it in Capture I hit the 'L' key and it will show any areas that are blown out. You can do the samething in PS by opening 'levels' and left clicking on the highlights tab and pressing 'alt'.

    Even better when you are shooting you review the histogram. If it shows a bump on the right side you could be blowing out your subject. If my histogram shows data on the far right I look at the "blinkies". The review on my D100 will show flashing areas on a pic and those flashing areas are blown highlights.

    That gator was sunning himself if I had gotten out of my car he would have been in the water and hightailing it out of there.

    I went down to the swamp but I could have stayed home. When I drove past my community pool and walking trail (5 minutes walk from my house) I saw that we had 5 GBH's, a batch of Great Egrets, ducks, cormorants, wood storks, ibises, and the Sandhills and their youngins in the pool by the trail.

    Another method is if you opening a raw file in PS hold down the ctrl and alt key(sorry dont know the mac terms)then click on the exposure slider.

    Hey Ian,

    I live in Viera, Florida. Thats on the Space Coast (Atlantic side) just a tad below Cape Canaveral and just north of Melbourne. I lucked out when we moved here. I have the Viera Wetlands just a 15 minute drive from my house and the Merritt Island Wildife Refuge a 45 minute drive. Basically I live in bird central. :D

    Not that close. Its shots like that that justify my 80-400 lens:D . I was probably 10 yards from him and in my car. Gators can move amazingly fast. The first time I saw one I was a tad cocky (and stupid) and I kept getting close and closer. Once I got into his "comfort zone" he spun like a top and disappeared into the water before I could hit the shutter release. While I was standing there the thought occurred to me "what would you have done if he had run towards you"? :jawdrop Ever since then I have maintained a healthy distance from them.

    rolleyes1.gif . I always say that how fast I can run depends on what is chasing me. With that 'gator behind me I would do the 100metres in 9 seconds easymwink.gif
