Oh Damn....missed by ONE point! Oh well, onto LPS #14.

This was one of the toughest rounds yet with many exceptional photos.

Congratulations to everyone who made the top 10.

And to everyone else, thanks for making this one of the best LPS's yet!

Congratulations and Thanks!!!

Congratulations to everyone!!!!

I am sooooooooooooooooo happy and sooooooooooooooooo thankful. I just can't believe I finally made it in.

A special thanks to Sean Sherstone and Thusie for all their encouragement and guidance throughout. Both are awesome teachers and exceptional human beings. Always willing to look at yet another shot and give me their honest critique. Thanks so much.

My husband, always giving me ideas or driving around with me to look for whatever I was attempting and always encouraging.

Wow, I'm glad I got up early to shoot.

Wow, wow, again thanks all and congratulations to everyone.

Peace, Gail

CONGRATULATIONS Everyone!

With all of the absolutely fantastic talent on this forum, I still can hardly believe that I made it in--I am sooooooooooooooo EXCITED --My poor husband, last night when I saw the results, I woke him out of a dead sleep with all of my happy exclamations!

Thank you to the judges and thank you all for giving me the opportunity to come out of "lurkdom" to be part of such a great forum! I have been watching and learning here and finally took the plunge and posted--your amazing photograpy has been intimidating to me, yet the friendliness you exude is so inviting that I hope to become a regular "face" around here.

Thank you so much for the compliment!

It is difficult to not treat the voting results as a "pass or fail" grade, but to get support from others really makes it easier to accept it for its subjectivity. I really had fun doing this shoot with my daughter and am pleased with the end result. To know others appreciate the image also is such a wonderful bonus!

Holy cow this was unexpected! Thank you all! I am blown away, particularly as the competition was exceptionally hard this time. I'm sure the nerves will kick in full-force on the semifinal round....

You are very welcome! I thought your shot would be up near the top - a "no-brainer" semi-finalist. I have struggled with this "pass-fail" thing, too, and I seem to be learning that there is no absolute on the "value" of an image - it is mostly a matter of feelings and opinion, which are different for all of us.

The difficulty I was running into was my tendency to take it personally - that others' opinions were a reflection of my own worth as a person (not just as a photographer). That was a wake-up call - to stop looking out there for ultimate validation - though I think we all need supportive feedback and encouragement as we're growing into something new. I am not saying that you were taking it too personally - I don't think so, but your comment made me want to share some of my own process, as the reflection be helpful for a few others.

From my perspective, what you've been posting tells me you are a darn good photographer with a lot of creativity, from whom I could learn a thing or two.

For what it's worth, Linda, Beacon of Resurrection was on my list, with its strong visual impact. Good luck in #14!
