10.5mm DX front element repair

Hi there!
Has anyone had to replace the fromt element on a 10.5mm DX lens? I'm getting ready to ship it off to Nikkon Calif. repair to have the front glass replaced. I love this lens but it gets a heck of a lot of abuse shooting in clubs in Austin. Between getting a light dusting of spraypaint on it and a lot of little pits that do show up as white dots on images I need to get it replaced before Austin City Limits.

Anyone used someone other than Nikon repair? Turnaround time is key here so it seems that Nikon repair is best.

Thanks!

IMPO, the only place I know to git done right is Nikon. So go fur it... You may also want to call to see if there is anything you can do to expedite the turn-around time.

    Good luck...

This cracks me up. Why didn't you get the lens repaired 3 months ago when you first asked this question?

<img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/Laughing.gif" border="0" alt="" >.. you are correct. However it was still usable for web and newsprint work even with a couple surface dings and was in service a lot since then. I waited until I wouldn't submit work from it, a couple days ago. Too many pits on the lens. I use this lens a lot. It has been sent to Nikon (El Segundo).

I'm going to miss using it tomorrow and Friday night. I must have it back in time for
the Austin City Limits Festival. If I could get another D200 by then that would be great also. I did go buy a 70-300vr nikkor after I crashed my fixed 300mm into some soft dirt. Still awaiting repair on that lens.

The 10.5mm is a very special lens and I use it a lot in clubs and concerts as well as for landscapes when I get the free time.

BTW: My three most shot lenses are, in order:
    12-24mm DX
    10.5mm DX
70-300 ED IF VR <-- this may overtake the 10.5 in large concert crowds.

    Cheers

    David,
I just bought a used 10.5mm in pristine condition for $525. You may want to keep this in mind when you get an estimate for your repair. I just had my 70-200mmVR undergo what was called a "major" repair from Nikon to the tune of $540.:cry
