The Hot Seat

A lifelong interest in landscape photography has led Eyal Oren to make a study of his adopted hometown of Marblehead, MA. As you can see, his dedication is paying off!

Africa!

My first wedding...
that I used a DSLR at.

I wasn't the photographer, just an attendee.
I took 15 or so shots, a few of them turned out.

There was a skylight that seemed to put a spotlight on the bride and groom during the wedding.

Equipment: Canon 30D at ISO 800, Canon 28-300is

It helps to have good looking people getting married also.

The Deacon. (aka Mick Jagger)

The bride and groom. (looking a little scared)

Exchanging vows. (she's so happy)

His ring.

I thought this wedding stuff was hard. (just kidding)

I agree with Dee...some very interesting lighting there that served you well. You should quit being a guest.

Thanks Dee, Scotty.

This was much better than being the real photographer.
I had today free, I guessing their Photog will be working up shots for the next week.

These are really super Dave! Boy did they look nervous!!!
As a guest, how did you manage such a great view of the nuptials???
Doesn't appear you seated with the guests, at least not in the last 2 shots. I think you better hang your shingle.

I like the light on the official in the first shot, but the second photograph is a real winner. Just love that light and, like you say, it doesn't hurt to have some beautiful people to photograph!

And, like Scotty_R says, it might be time for you to think about being a working attendee at some of these. Maybe?

I know people who would kill to get wedding photos anywhere near this great. I love the lighting. You could really make some money at this. That is a very sharp lens for a Canon .

Very Nice
What f stop did you use? I still can't believe that is done at ISO 800 you barely see any grain in the background. Did you do alot of PP? I have the 30D and have not used 800 yet (I don't recall going past ISO 400) Those are some nice pictures. I love the natural lighting. If that's your first stab at weddings, wedding photographers have something to worry about LOL

You did a good job.

Thanks folks.

Renay, I believe the lens was wide open, (f5.6) for all of these. Shutter was from 1/50 to 1/250 of a second. (I really like i.s. lenses)
My post work was A little USM, then crop and resize, for a couple of them I use the noise reduction filter in PSE4, plus a touch of Smart blur.
(smart blur can be very useful in small doses) a small dose of USM again and that's about it.

I'll guess I worked about 2-3 minutes per shot.
The 30D does pretty well at iso 800. Way better than my XTi.

No pros have anything to worry about me cutting in on their action. I know I just got a few lucky shots in.
Like I say, I was just sitting in the crowd snapping a few off.

slight crop, resize only.
