Emergency Maintenance - May 25th, 2007
Hey all,
We missed releasing a major new feature during our maintenance window last night, but it's possible we'll attempt it tonight instead. If so, it'll be during the same hours: 20:00 Pacific tonight to 03:00 Pacific tomorrow morning. We're still testing, so I'm not sure yet if this is a go or a no go, but we'll keep you posted. Things are looking fairly good right now. We are going to try something new tonight. If it doesn't work, please don't kill me, but we're gonna try to put the site into 'Read Only' mode so people can still browse your photos, see them embedded out on the net, etc. But that means you won't be able to upload new photos, log in, edit captions, leave comments, etc. Only view. There will be a big notice on the top of each page letting you know the site is currently undergoing maintenance, is in read-only mode, and may go offline at any time. There will probably be a few minutes here and there where the site may not be as speedy, but if this test goes well, it should remain mostly online throughout the release. Wish us luck! |

Thank you for read-only! Work has to get done, but this goes a long way to minimizing the pain.

Hi Don,
Might be a good idea to send a heads up message to the control panels of all smugmuggers - I believe you've done this in the past - it was a good method of alerting us..... thanks, rich56k EDIT: Thanks Don!! Now thats customer service, Smugmug continues to set the standard!! Last edited by rich56k; May-25-2007 at 05:05 PM. |

Yeah, I got no photos at all showing now either, just thumbnails for each gallery, but you click a gallery, it's like it's completely empty...
A bit frustrating when you have a new camera you wanted to show some pics to folks. Links to 2 photos I posted at my forum earlier are still showing up, but nothing inside smugmug directly... |

If your photos aren't showing up...please switch to another style other than SmugMug. It appears to be working for some browsers but not others... we are currently looking into the problem.

Don... Want to thank you for the FYI. I was nice to find this post so easily once I saw that I was unable to login.
So, what is this "major new feature"? Does it pertain to all accounts?

The "window shopping" mode is good. That way people know what's up, and hopefully there won't be customers caught with huge print orders lost... (Are shopping carts like, frozen during this "window shopping" session? Or are they emptied? :-(
Take care, -Matt-

Speaking of which, things are going well. We're nearly 50% done, best guess, so we have a few hours left to go. Thanks for being patient! |
