Assignment #33: Series

edited October 1, 2008 in Assignments
For what it's worth, our worst pp nightmares are over...

Let's switch from the lowly digital darkroom back to the pure photography, shall we? ;-)

This week subject is Series.

Your unedited shot should contain several (preferably more than 3) objects of the same/similar shape/color/texture/whatever that would allow an uneducated viewer to easily associate them together. As a rule (which could be be creatively broken :wink) those objects should also line up in some sort of a simple pattern (line, grid, etc.)

As usual: fresh pictures, moderate post-processing.
For the rest of the basic rules and index please check out this sticky.

Let's get some series! :-) :wink

Thanks! I like #2 the most, although #1 is fine, too. thumb.gif
#3 - not so much. Usually "series" are associated with more uniform-looking subjects and simpler layout patterns... ne_nau.gif

Not the best light for shooting (my kitchen at 11PM with a CF bulb), but I didn't think it was too bad.

    Some Benches
    _benches_resize.jpg

    Some Columns
    _col1_resize.jpg
    _col2_resize.jpg

    Some Cones

and finally my coup de grâce, a series of lights, a series of trees and each tree is a series of 3 trunks

The first are key bushing cauls used for re-bushing piano keys, made of brass (so they can be heated to a better compression set for glue/felt).

The third are upright piano bi-chord damper felts. These are cut apart and glued on the damper blocks. The wedges fit in between two bass strings (hence, bi-chord) to mute them when the key is released.

I knew it... We used to have grand piano at home when I was a kid (both my mom and my older sister played), so it had that feeling... I just didn't realize at the the time you brought the piccies...thumb.gif

    Every One's a Winner:

    148669945-L.jpg

1920's game of chance - put a coin in the slot and flick a steel ball round the loops. Depending on speed, gravity, and luck the ball might end up in a cup. If it does, you get your money back and a free shot. If it doesn't, you just have another go with another coin...

Hi Dgrinners, I'm new to the site and especially like the concept of these weekly challenges. Here's my first post and first try at 'series'. I took this earlier today. C&C welcomed.

It's a really good shot, but i think the objects should be closer to each other in shape/color.
