Below are a few shots from this morning...

#4 A dashboard:

#5 A car:

The rest is here: http://nik.smugmug.com/gallery/2741698

Hey Nik-

Don't you just love but hate car shows?

There are some really nice cars in that gallery of yours- I went through all 146. I like seeing the different styles you went for, reflections, details, low profile, etc.

Looks like you ran into the usual car show issues though- cars to close together, people or their chairs too close to the car, and those unwanted reflections.

There are a few I liked - but think you went to narrow when shooting the details (in general). To me it makes the object too isolated and then pieces like the steering column really interfere rather than add to it -- i.e. dashboard shot- also would have liked to see the skull in focus more.

This was one of me favorites because it is a very unique catch- http://nik.smugmug.com/gallery/2741698#145623699

Maybe there will be a car show in Page!?

Nice, Nik.

Why is the steering wheel so noisy? What'd you do?

Thanks, David!

It was one of two or three with the exposure problem (locked on a bright spot apparently), but I liked it for the "feeling" and let it live...

Yes, this is so very true. Very nice objects, but the environment...

In addition to the reflections and crowd I also lost my dual axis level...

That's very possible. I think this is my first car show with a decent camera
(I took 10-22 and 70-200), so I was naturally inclined to shoot either very wide or very tight. I wasn't that much interested in the "general look" because of the problems you've mentioned above...

Interesting set nik What is that figurine off ? There is a car parked not far from me in a front yard with that on the bonnet.

You can find a lot of other low angles here: http://nik.smugmug.com/gallery/2741698

And you will find a much better self portrait in the end, too:-)

At first I was going to say a Lincoln or Chrysler but after seeing the front end shot I am pretty sure it is a Studebaker 1953 version.

I think you're correct, I remember seeing this make, I just was stupid enough NOT to take the "overall" shot of each car, if only for ID purposes..

Oh well, we all learn, if ever so slowly...
