I recently tested an Ergorest vehicle camera support system, and this springbok was kind enough to pose for my tests.

Very nice shots. This is a type of antelope, correct? You handled the exposure well.

Nice shots of a Springbok Antelope

I just love it when I can get a consistent dreamy background like that. Grasses and a little down angle will do it every time.:D

very well done on all of these... the exposure is spot on, details are great, and the poses are perfect, particularly the second one.

Fine shots thumb.gif How did the Ergorest work for you? I've been considering getting some form of support for my car window.

Thanks Marina, they normally scamper off into the distance, so I was really happy with this one.

Thanks Maestro. The springbok is an antelope found on the drier plains of southern Africa (it's also used to be the national sports emblem of South Africa).

Thanks Ric! The autumn grass does give the pic a nice feel.

Thanks Harry. As I said earlier, I want to put up a mini-review of the Ergorest. My feeling is that, in spite of what is said about 600s on the Website, you don't want to go much bigger than the Bigma on this thing.

from what I have been told they are not so good with big glass if you move around a lot [shooting bifs ] In L.A, this would be a waste of $$ not much of a chance to shoot from a car like Harry does but if you can the animals do not run as fast from a car as they do when you get out :D . Nice clean shot thumb.gif

    Nice series Al.

The rather look like Pronghorn Antelope in the western plains of the US.

I agree with you - the Ergorest looks like it might be a little lightweight for serious use with 600mm lens. Fine for up to 300mm though, but 300mm is rarely enough for really wild animal life.

Thanks Glenn! We see them fairly regularly, but normally never close enough to take pics of them.

Thanks Jeff, unfortunately, in our reserves you have to stay in your vehicle (otherwise you may get eaten or stomped on :D), so a vehicle support is useful.

Thanks PF! The first time I saw Pronghorns when I was in Utah, I thought they were Springboks. I had to stop the car just to confirm a mis-ID :D

I must get around to my review. Have taken the pics, just need to process and upload them.
