The SmugMug Footer
Hi everyone,
This comes up a lot. "Can I remove the SmugMug Footer?" The answer is, no - but you if you are a power or pro customer, you can minimize it. How? http://www.smugmug.com/help/customize-faq.mg #16, click it to see Hiding it or covering it with any CSS or HTML tricks, is not allowed, sorry. I hope this helps! |

"Powered by Smugmug"-> "Powered by SM" possible?
Quote:
I'm not against the "powered by" part appearing on my page, and but I'd love it if we could change it to say SM instead of Smugmug. Do you think that might be possible? I'm not opposed to the info being on there, but I'd prefer a less hobby sounding name on the link. From looking around it seems many other Pro users don't object to the link either, but do object to the name, which some people feel just isn't professional sounding. I just wondered if it was possible to do something like that. Kristi |

I wanted to bring this back up. On your site, http://www.moonriverphotography.com/ you don't have the Powered by Smugmug on your titlebar...

Changing Document title on top of browser
You can change the Page Title as described by Allen. But you will still get the "powered by smugmug" after your title.
You need to overwrite it. Put this in your Head Tag ( under site wide customation Code:
<*script language="javascript">document.title="your title goes here"</script*> Chad Last edited by Cotec; Sep-26-2008 at 08:04 PM. Reason: forgot code brackets |

Has anyone noticed that you can get rid of the smugmug footer entirely with EZC? or was my page just a fluke? (I scrapped my work with EZC, so now I'm back to ground zero, and committed to learning CSS.

I don't know if it's ECZ or not, I can only limit the footer. Though, I've seen a few smugmug sites that have no smugmug footer, is something new coming up, or just a fluke?

To fully remove the smugmug footer, add this to your css box: Code:

#cobrand_footer
{display: none !important;}

This is certainly related, but I'm hoping this will be considered a practical request. I have no issue with a required SmugMug footer - in fact, I would have it even if it was removable, as I am proud to be user and want others to know. My problem is with the content in the footer including the word "Contact".
1) As a power user, I am obviously interested in my page being more than just a place to share images (ie: custom hostname, and other features) - it is my online portfolio and my main point of contact. I give out my web address and tell people they can find my contact information there, as I don't have email setup yet for my custom host name and don't want to give out a gmail or similar address (it's just unprofessional). My current footer looks something like this: * Home Theme1 Theme2 ... Contact * Photo sharing by SmugMug · Logout · Contact · Help · Portions © 2010 SmugMug, Inc. There are TWO contact links! 50% chance of my potential clients clicking on the wrong one and winding up on what looks like a Help page, and concluding my hotlinks are just plain broken. 2) I understand that, with a Pro account, you can customize the Contact link to provide an email dialog - which I agree is a nice feature and maybe worth the upgrade for some. But I do not need an email dialog or redirect. I am happy customizing my page with a link to my regular email. I don't think I am being unreasonable in asking the ability to 'reword' the Contact part of the SmugMug footer. SmugHelp, SmugMail, HostMail, anything other than Email or Contact - especially given that the Help link is RIGHT THERE - it's not like there is any chance that they could not get to SmugMug support if that's what they are looking for. Please consider this - thanks. Adam |
