Congratulations to the winners!
I'm pleased to say that I of the 18 I selected as possible winners, 8 of them are here! I'm getting better at seeing what the judges see as winners - so from that standpoint, I feel good! (that's compared to 1 last time! YIKES!) Good luck to all in the next round!

Congrats everyone. The images deserve the recognition because they are all good. Some of the concepts and interpretation of the theme are excellent.

a humble opinion
congrats to all the winners..but i'm highly disappointed with the results..to me many photos don't convey the topic..spare my ignorance but the dictionary meaning of humble is..hum·ble
![]() /ˈhʌm bəl, ˈʌm-/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[huhm-buh l, uhm-] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation adjective, -bler, -blest, verb, -bled, -bling. –adjective 1.not proud or arrogant; modest: to be humble although successful. 2.having a feeling of insignificance, inferiority, subservience, etc.: In the presence of so many world-famous writers I felt very humble. 3.low in rank, importance, status, quality, etc.; lowly: of humble origin; a humble home. 4.courteously respectful: In my humble opinion you are wrong. 5.low in height, level, etc.; small in size: a humble member of the galaxy. –verb (used with object) 6.to lower in condition, importance, or dignity; abase. 7.to destroy the independence, power, or will of. 8.to make meek: to humble one's heart.firstly, the pic showing the child..which of the following meanings r depicted?or r innocence & humility synonyms. secondly,is being old humble? i didn't know that! thirdly, polishing stairs is humble..aren't we all humble who do our household work then..wish i'd put my pic mopping the floors. fourthly,is that poet more humble than so many other pics which showed humility in the true sense... Coming to stately, how come those rocks r stately or r they humble?i'm confused..please help!! with all due respect i feel the judges r over looking the topics ..why have a title when we don't do justice to it..lets tell everyone to click beautiful pictures..thats what matters(may be) i'm a new grinner..i'm not writing all this to prove the phrase"grapes r sour" lets just that i like to be straight forward..i'm a learner..the response i got from my fellow grinners was amazing..thanks a lot once again but the results have really puzzled me..all i want to know is that is the topic really important or we should just go ahead & click great pics! |

Judges are human, and like you, they have their own interpretation of photography, which is a subjective art. Maybe you'll be asked to judge one these contests. If so, do you think everyone would agree with your choices? |

Congratulations to all! I'm not surprised by the winners at all....there were so many great shots I would have had a really difficult time choosing if I were judging.

I suspect at least some of the judges will provide critiques of images and maybe some insight into selections (My vote for #1 goes to lynnsite's "His Majesty's Daughter"). How 'bout critiques from you Doctor It? (uh oh, now I've done it, laid down the challenge, big trouble, may regret this)
(BTW, ericgtr, you're rockin' out gumby cracks me up, awesome) Last edited by seastack; Apr-03-2007 at 03:29 PM. |

![]() I'm sorry, I just don't have time. My work as mod takes precedence over judging and critique. I wish I had time for more photography, heck, I don't even remember the last time I posted one of my own photos! I'll just shuffle along with my mop and bucket, its been a busy day. |
