J.p.,
Good one, again!
I'd fiddle with the crop a bit, the remnant of the pillar on the left and some stuff on the bottom distract me, but other than that - it's a good glass:-)

This is an extremely heavy bubble glass ashtray I got at a thrift store 20 years ago. I love it, it's gorgeous. Not sure which shot I like better.

Glass experiment with dark field lighting. I think I need a little more room to play with this some and get better control over the light and reflections in the the room. We'll give it another try later.

Shot this one tonight.

And since I thought this one required a set-up shot:

I also had an umbrella high to image right to accentuate the metal rings.

Pulled a muscle in my back so am sort of confined to my house. Though it would be a good time to see if there were some assignments to try. Does this count for the glass one?

Shot into a small soft box with the center area covered with black material to get the bulbs edge definition and background. Bulb is set up on a dimmer switch set very low.

Dave,
I like the image a lot.
But as far as this assignment goes - it's a no go.
The glass part is nearly invisible (transparency is a b1tch, ain't it?;-). The only visible part is its profile, but at that point it's not even clear (pun intended) whther it's a glass or somthing else.
Again, please read the lead post for requirement details.

Thanks Nik. I guess it's back to the drawing board. It was fun to shoot though and was pretty happy with the results. I re-read the instructions and see your point. This would be better if the topic was 'filament', but not glass.

Dave,
it's a better fit than the previous attempt, but I think I agree with you - again, glass transparency has played ya.
Maybe having a larger distance between the glass and the bg would have helped?
Nikolai
