    Date taken/Date modified
I normally arrange my photos by "date taken" but have recently found this to be set to all zeros. Strangely the "date modified" variable seems to contain the "date taken" value (even for edited photos CREATED long after the original was taken). What's going on?

Examples can be found at http://leifur.smugmug.com/gallery/1780719

    Cheers,

    Leifur

    HTML lists and journal style
I'm pretty sure I've reported this before and that someone provided a workaround. Now I can't find any of that. So I'll report again and maybe get the workaround again.

HTML lists (<ol>, <ul>) in journal style seem to get their numbers and bullets way too far to the left. See this example:

    If not now, when?

save photo not retaining original image type
when you use the save photo link from a gallery, it always saves as a jpg regardless of the original file type.

not a huge deal, but downloading a gif (with a .jpg extension) got photoshop all turned around and it wouldnt open the file with the error below. (png files have a similar but not identical error).

Well I noticed a change in the uploading Icon on batches of photos a status on each photo and an overall status so I figured that this was a nice improvement. Well low and behold you have changed something else by doing this and f'up the filename it assigns to the file. Thus is add files to an already existing gallery the filename order is messed up. Instead of having a file name of IMG_4476, it now shows file name as G:\laura\both8\part8\IMG_4476 basically showing the file tree from my computer with it. Please tell me you will fix this or show me a way I can change what you have said is its filename.
"A photo is like a hamburger. You can get one from McDonalds for $1, one from Chili's for $5, or one from Ruth's Chris for $15. You usually get what you pay for, but don't expect a Ruth's Chris burger at a McDonalds price, if you want that, go cook it yourself." - me

Hot Linking with Ext Linking Off
I have external linking turned off in all galleries except one private gallery created just for that purpose. I have recently discovered that any photo can be hot linked, even when the gallery option is off, simply by modifying the url.

    Example:

    Page from gallery: http://www.hdvideo.smugmug.com/gallery/1276497/11/59950002

    Modified url: http://www.hdvideo.smugmug.com/photos/59950002-M.jpg

External linking is turned off for this sample gallery. Can this be fixed?

    Andy,
Same prob here, tried every thing i could think of (resave files w/diff ext, ect) nothing helped , until i tried "old faithful" it works ok (img# only vs. long drawn out string bham referred to) it just takes forever....
Am still uploading as i type ......:cry
Am correct to assume(!?) no matter how this plays out the "incorrect" file name version will still have to be re-uploaded once all is fixed?

Correct, it's a bug w/ the Univ Uploader only and it's been logged. I'm not sure if you'll need to reupload or not. Sorry --- will try to find out!

I like the new upload "meter" for the individual picture with the overall "meter".

Sorry if the intial report came across as angry. I was a little at the time, mainly because the gallery is for a customer who has been so nitpicky about a few things and I could almost hear the phone call or read the email she would be sending me about complaining about the images being out of order. I sent her a preemptive (sp?) email so she would know. I realize when you make improvements their will be bugs. The frustration was realizing it would be some other issue she may complain about. I just am sick of her and hearing her irritating voice.

Custom Pricing Bug! Greater/Less than broken
I just discovered that "greater than" and "less than" options in pricing for filtering price adjustments.

But it seems to be broken which is too bad, it is a great feature.:cry

From what I can tell it is only reading the first digit (maybe second if the first is a decimal point) It might be doing string compares instead of value compares.

So I do greater than 15 or 15.00 and it is highlights all above $1.

If I do a 4 I get all the prices that start with 5s or higher (I think, I didn't do a complete test case analysis)

I just know that it appears to be doing a character based compare instead of a value based compare.

    Thanks!

    Problem loading images
Not sure if it's just me or if there is a system problem.

Have been attempting to load photos to one of my galleries today.
    http://ghealy.smugmug.com/gallery/1790724

First attempted this earlier this morning and when it didn't work, I tried the new java uploader. It never worked on my PC and still doesn't. ne_nau.gif

I then tried 'old faithful' and it reacted the same as the Windows Explorer uploader, i.e. both just sit there for some time and then give the following error:

"Sending information to the server failed with error code 12030. Uploading has been aborted."

Any suggestions on how I can tackle this? Appreciate any and all comments.

:uhohI also tried to get around it via the Send to Smugmug tool and it also uploads with the long filename. Not sure where it is getting it from as it is NOT in the EXIF... Trying Old Faithfful now as I have read it is the only workaround now...

    Thanks

    Panoramics don't display scrollbar
    Hello,
If I click the "O" link (original) for this image, I don't get a horizontal scroll bar, even though its a panoramic, so that I can't see the whole image:
    http://neb.smugmug.com/gallery/1476644/1/70574930

I get a JavaScript error on the page as well. I've attached a screenshot of the error details (IE 6).

I think the problem occurs when vertically it fits, but it doesn't horizontally (most panoramics).
In comparison, clicking the "O" link from the page below correctly shows both scrollbars, because it doesn't fit vertically either:
    http://neb.smugmug.com/gallery/1775702/3/88290040

A workaround is to get into the Single Image view by clicking the "L" link first, then the "O" link, but users won't know that...

    Thanks,
    Ben

    Hi Ben,

Here's what I replied to you by email from our help desk:
    Hi Ben,

It's not a bug. The viewer has a preferred size, and also the choice to select which sizes they want to view. In smugmug style, if they click on the main photo, it goes into lightbox, and they can select O to get the original. In traditional, they can keep clicking to get to the original, or they can simply click on "Original"

Many folks appreciate having the smaller size first (quick loading) and then click to the larger. You can always add some text in the gallery description to help them along if you like :)

    I hope this helps!

Cannot replicate the javascript error - are you perhaps behind a corporate firewall, or do you have any sort of blocking software running?

Hmmm.... I don't see how it's not a bug for the "O" link in the "smugmug" view style. Granted, there are ways around it, but when the user clicks that link they expect to see the original image in the lightbox view, not just the left side of it that they can't scroll around to see the rest. Are you saying that not being able to scroll is the intended functionality? Furthermore, it works one way (with scrolling) if the image is taller than the browser, but doesn't work if it's not taller than the browser. How is that not a problem? I recognize that it might not be a link that users click regularly, but I have several panoramics and this a problem for all of them. I would like to suggest to the user in the description of the photo to click the "O" link, as I think the scrolling original image is the best view of the photo, but if they do that they will only see the left side of the image, not the whole thing.

I don't mean to come on too strongly, I just don't see how the current link's result is what is intended.

One last note: I am behind a corporate firewall, I didn't know that was a JS limitation...

Here's the link to the page, although as the "O" link brings up the lightbox, it doesn't have a distinct web page for the view. Clicking the "O" link is required, while viewing the page using the "smugmug" style:

I guess I'm confused. You were saying you couldn't scroll your original sized images? But when I click on the O I get the lightbox that I can scroll (in firefox at least). Or if I click on the L, and then in the single image pages click on the O I get a single image page that also allows me to scroll your images. So I guess I'm not seeing the problem is all ne_nau.gif

In Lightbox in IE, the scroll bars should be there. Don't know why. I'll investigate and return back to you.

OK it's bugged. But in the meantime, you can view the O on the page, by clicking "Original."

    File names and file names!
I know of the problem with the entire local path appearing in the caption...this is not what I'm talking about.

First, there used to be a file name field included with the others like camera, more details, original size, current, other sizes, and keywords. It no longer appears in any of my galleries. It was invaluable when the caption was added because I didn't have to worry about reproducing the file name there. Now there's really no way for a viewer to give me a list of images short of a link-list, but I've got to visit every link, then find the image. I want that name back!

Second, and related, when I now upload files, the thumbnail no longer displays "user > gallery > filename" as a tool tip. This was also handy...especially when the file name field disappeared. :-) What it displays now is "user > gallery photo" and by this I mean the gallery name and the word 'photo' after a space.

The first problem affects all the galleries I have. The name field is gone. The second problem only affects newly uploaded files. My old images have the "user > gallery > filename" tooltip while the newly uploaded images replace the file name with the word 'photo.' Not nearly as good.

    Ideas? Is it me?
