Whew! almost a lawn mowing tragedy.
I was cutting the grass in my fenced in dog enclosure this morning. As I was mowing I saw a 'puff' of something come from the side of the mower. (I use a rear discharge bag) I stopped to check and found it was the Momma rabbitts hair which had been covering her brand new bunnies.
A very quick photo shot and they were covered back up.
The dogs, needless to say, will not be allowed in 'their' play area for several weeks.

WOW! Nice save. All the ones around here make burrows to ahve their babies in. Are those just common rabbits or something we don't see every day?

Good thing you didn't have that mower set one notch lower!!!

It's that time of year, we have lots of little bunnies all around campus.

I believe they are Eastern Cottontails - quite common. I usually have several litters in my yard - but, they are always under a long row of shrubbery. This nest is right out in the yard. The section of yard is enclosed (fence) as it is 'normally' used by my 2 Yorkies to play in.
They are going to wonder why they can't go out back anymore (for awhile anyway).
