Yeah, there was definately quite a bit of hiking involved. It seemed like there was more strenuous hiking at Zion for some reason (maybe it was that whole hike to Angel's Landing thing...)

I love the star trail Kendall, I wish I would have stayed up with you and Mike to do those but I had a hard enough time waking up in the morning as it was. Great exposure on the first shot, you held the detail nicely in the shadows.

Thanks, Glu. I have to admit that I tried Marc's double raw conversion trick on the first one... it definately works when trying to maintain the shadow details. I'm gonna put that trick on the list of "keepers".

Thanks for the comments, everyone. Does anyone think that the B&W pic needs to be higher contrast? I've been struggling with that...not sure if I like it as is.

My favorite so far is #3 (the wide angle perspective shot). I really like the composition, even though the rocks aren't as interesting as some are around there. And then the star trails, awesome. Was the Milky Way visible?

#5 with Thor's Hammer (I think) has a lot of promise, but it looks like the light may not have been quite right or there was a bad cloud. Might have been a good one for exposure stacking.

Can't pick a favorite - they are just all too spectacular!!! I do like seeing the people in this shot for perspective, plus it's just a cool shot. I love seeing the textures up close in this 2nd one. Congratulations....you came back with some real treasures!!

Thanks much! I don't know if I deserve those comments, but I appriciate it. It seems like the more fun you have taking a picture, the more pleased you are with it later. That was certainly true with this trip.
