How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

The two horse shots work for me. Be nice if the first one had the action (the eye) on a third.

Poor skinny horse, usually horse photos look best with longer focal lenghts you wont get the BIG head syndrom, Unless of course you are going for the wide angle look. some look a bit oversharpened, this place will have you shooting great stuff in no time.

Focal length is the mm on the lens. If you're shooting with the 17-85, for instance, those are your focal lengths, except on the Rebel, you need to multiply the focal length by 1.6, since the sensor is smaller than the standard (35mm frame). It's all math. You wanna be shooting horses at 100mm+. The wider angles (shorter focal lengths) distort horses, make them look odd. It kinda works on those close-ups, but horse experts shoot longer focal lengths.
