a big day for a five year old is ...
... when the training wheels come off! i came home from the city
tonight and asked trev if he was ready ... i have been doing so
every friday for a few weeks now. up until tonight, the answer was
always "no thanks..." tonight, he said yes, and he got on the bike
and started riding like a big boy immediatly. it's a proud moment,
and the very next thing we did was head to the store to stock up on
bandages :-)

enjoy (without training wheels) photography,

You have given him his first taste of real freedom. I remember teaching my boys to ride, Its a great feeling when they peddle off.

The bandages are a good idea.

Andy,

My wife's grandson just lost his training wheels about 2.5 weeks ago ... Learning to ride a bike is truly an amazing moment. He lives 3800km away in Montreal so we didn't get to see this historic event.

We both spoke of how hard it is for us now to imagine NOT being able to ride a bike. But when you try for the first time, you can't imagine that you'll EVER be able to go straight and not fall over!

Thanks for sharing your special moment (along with all the others you share!),

Oh, wow...that's so exciting! The pride coupled with a little fear in your son's face is priceless! I'll get to do that in about 4 years...

Congrats to all!

Talking Ooops, I missed another one...
Andy,
Sorry I missed this one. Congratulations on passing another milestone. My question is, how were you going to help him with a camera in your hand? Glad he didn't need any help. I'll bet he's been practicing like crazy for several weeks. He wanted to do you proud, and himself. I see it in his face. What a great kid!
