Sunday January 15th Kendall (Aero-Nut), Mikko and me made a little trip to Ojai sierras. We visited Rose Valley Falls and Lower Lions campground, next to a Piedra Blanca area.
Here are a few pictures.
Kendall and Mikko are posing in front of the MURRANO and frost-bitten picnic table:

Approaching the top tier:

200 ft tall top tier:

I climbed it a bit, here are guys at the base of the upper tier:

Little creek rushing down:

Sun was still low:

Kendall is chimping:-)

Sierras view towards Santa Barbara:

Trail back is always easy:

Next stop - Piedra Blanca. This is a small version of what in fact is a 150Mp panorama hand made from 21 Canon 20D raw images:

When we got closer, we discovered a neat rock formation:

Day was so clear that on our way back we saw the Pacific (35 miles away) and Channel Islands (70 miles away):

    Nik,

Very cool shots! You got some good angles on those falls. I really like that panorama. It turned out well. That pic of me chimping looks like I'm in pain. :D

I like yours too. Some of your b/w look really neat! You need to post them here!

It's not without the seams, but for a handheld version I think it may pass as a "C" :-)

It's just sun being hitting directly in your eyes ;-)

    Thanks for visiting:-)!
Unfortunately we didn't have a lot of water in the falls. In fact, this was probably the least amount of the current for all my trips there. When it's full it looks really great, like a mini-Yosemite:-)

    Hey Rich,
Nice series, Nik! Looks like a very cool place. I really liked that trail shot also.

As you have no doubt noticed, we don't get as much water-falls here in SoCal as you do at your place. Still, it was at least an attempt:-)

I'm jealous I couldn't join you on what was obviously a great day of shooting.

It's weird that photographers spend years or even a whole lifetime, trying to capture moments that added together, don't even amount to a couple of hours.

    Nikolai,

I would like to thank you for taking Kendall and I to this great place. It was a great time shooting with you. We will have to do this again soon.

You got some awesome pics. I like the one at the upper falls where you climbed up and took a picture of Kendall and I down bellow. That is a good composition.

    Once again Thanks,
    Mikko

Nik, we'll have to check it out after our rainy season. It'll be flowing pretty heavy then, I'd bet.

I was actually planning to do that last year, but... You remember what *how* it was raining last year.. Ojai had 3 ft of water flood, hwy 33 was closed... BTW, part of it is still washed out, there is a 300 ft section on a stiff slope where it turns into one-lane road.
May be this year will not be as drastic...

You may have seen these posted already in other forums, but per Nik's request, I thought I'd post a few from the trip as well. If you've seen these already, I appologize.

    Great shots, Kendall!
For some reason your waterfalls look much more contrasty and lively than mine, I could almost think you were using flashthumb.gif
    And Pier shots are lovely!clap.gif

    Now it's Poppy Trip!

Hehe...thanks Nik. Actually none of the shots that I used a flash for turned out. I just bumped contrast and saturation in PS on a couple of the natural light shots.

I agree...we definately need to get that poppy trip together. I'll keep an eye on them out here and see when their starting to bloom.
