Camera Books - Canon and Nikon?
I have found books by J. Dennis Thomas for Nikon'S DSLR cameras - "Digital Field Guides" to be well done. They cover setup, advanced shooting techniques and some other concepts. Very well
done. Includes: D90, D300, D700, D800/D800e, D7000, D3000 and D5100 that I can find, maybe more. Nikon D600 added recently and ready Dec 2012. How about Canon? Is there an author who does similar in depth books on setup and usage for Canon DSLRs? Thanks Phil Last edited by lifeinfocus; Oct-01-2012 at 04:29 AM. |

I moved this to the Reviews section.
There are indeed a number of "field guides" for Canon cameras available through the usual book sources: http://tinyurl.com/8ncu8v9 I personally like the free Canon "QuickGuide" series in PDF format: http://www.learn.usa.canon.com/resou...k_guides.shtml ... as well as the articles in the Canon Photo Knowledge Base: http://www.learn.usa.canon.com/dlc/a...wledgebase.spr |

Old post, but I'll add the Magic Lantern Guides. I got one for the 1DIII I bought about 8 months ago. Some very basic info and nice walk through of the custom functions. The table of contents and index are a bit weak though, seems I really have to try to find topics I need but when I find them they are very complete. They just use different words in the index than I might have guessed. $20 and had some handy quick guide wallet cards to pull out. Still working out how to control which card my photos store to though. JPG to 1 and RAW to 2? Both to one card, then switch to second when first is full? Not real clear, but still wading through index.....
