Custom Headers in different categories
Hello all,

I am trying to create two custom headers for different part of my sites using different images, different table background colors, different text and (most important / most difficult) with different links.

You can see the two headers I am trying to create here:
www.ericscottphotography.smugmug.com
www.ericscottphotography.com/weddings

The wedding page shown above is not currently hosted on Smugmug, and if you click through the wedding 'Private Galleries' link, you will enter the smugmug site and see that I lose my custom header.

I am a CSS / HTML noob, so I'm hoping someone here will be able to walk me through the code I'll need to take my existing Smugmug header and set it so that the /Wedding category of my site links to a different logo, changes the color of the header bar, changes the text on the header bar and changes the links.

I do hope this is possible - thanks in advance for your help!

The tutorial at http://dgrin.smugmug.com/gallery/1932865 includes information on how to use different banners on different pages of your site. Scroll down to the section HAVING DIFFERENT BANNERS IN DIFFERENT CATEGORIES or GALLERIES.

Thanks for your quick response. I've managed to customize the appearance so the header changes between these categories:

www.ericscottphotography.smugmug.com/private
www.ericscottphotography.smugmug.com/wedding

I am having some problems though. Smugmug doesn't appear to count my new header as 'used' space; some of the navigation buttons (like 'buy' 'share', etc...) appear over top of the header, blocking out the text. Also, my footer no longer appears on the screen, it is lost out of site below the bottom edge of the screen and I can only see it by scrolling down.

The biggest problem I have left, however, is that I'm still not sure how to have the links in my header point to different pages in the different header designs. Does anyone know how I can customize the hyperlinks included in the header depending on the category it is in?

I appreciate any more help.

If you can send us a link to the galleries you are seeing the header and footer problems in we can take a look for you. As for the navigation, that would be something similar. You create a navbar1 and navbar2 and only show them on the categories you want with CSS.

Hi Eric,

I wasn't able to figure out how to use the navbars to customize the text content and hyperlinks, so I just went with a header that has different images embedded in it for the hyperlinks. This doesn't look as sharp as vector text, but it works.

Thanks for your help.
