Can someone point me in the right direction for me to tidy up my links under my header ? right now I've got four, they are just text and underlined and don't look that nice, any suggestions ?

Take a look at http://www.dgrin.com/showpost.php?p=154081&postcount=48. You can do a lot of different things easily by modifying that tutorial a bit.
