Can I embed a video?
How would I embed a youtube video into a forum post?

Or is it even possible?

Thanks,

Ryan

You could grab the embed code from YouTube and paste it directly in the post. The gotcha is that some forums we have that capability turned on, and in some other forums it is off. Which forum were you planning on placing the video in?

Hi David,

I have a sticky thread in the customization forum here - http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=212038

I want to embed the into video to a customization course I just published on Udemy. The course can be found here - http://www.udemy.com/create-a-gorgeo...ug-in-90-mins/

I'll try to embed the code for the video in this post...

<object classid="clsid27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" id="" width="400" height="300" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/swflash.cab"> <param name="movie" value="http://www.udemy.com/static/flash/player5.9.swf" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff" /> <param name="flashvars" value="config=http://www.udemy.com/asset/export.html%3Fuaid%3DE0ofeFxTVw%3D%3D%26displayTyp e%3Dxml%26uaidh%3D7249daba21f76e3554258a3069f7ffe9 %26ulid%3DE0oSd1xWVw%3D%3D%26ulidh%3D9e81b0490eda6 422728d5fa89a76d51d" /> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="never" /> <param name="base" value="." /> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /> <param name="wmode" value="transparent" /> <param name="scale" value="noscale" /> <embed src="http://www.udemy.com/static/flash/player5.9.swf" quality="high" bgcolor="#ffffff" width="400" height="300" name="" align="" wmode="transparent" scale="noscale" base="." allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="never" play="true" loop="false" quality="high" flashvars="config=http://www.udemy.com/asset/export.html%3Fuaid%3DE0ofeFxTVw%3D%3D%26displayTyp e%3Dxml%26uaidh%3D7249daba21f76e3554258a3069f7ffe9 %26ulid%3DE0oSd1xWVw%3D%3D%26ulidh%3D9e81b0490eda6 422728d5fa89a76d51d" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer"> </embed> </object>

Hmm...that's is more than I got in the other thread, but obviously still not right. The code is:

HTML Code:
<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" id="" width="400" height="300" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/swflash.cab"> <param name="movie" value="http://www.udemy.com/static/flash/player5.9.swf" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff" /> <param name="flashvars" value="config=http://www.udemy.com/asset/export.html%3Fuaid%3DE0ofeFxTVw%3D%3D%26displayType%3Dxml%26uaidh%3D7249daba21f76e3554258a3069f7ffe9%26ulid%3DE0oSd1xWVw%3D%3D%26ulidh%3D9e81b0490eda6422728d5fa89a76d51d" /> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="never" /> <param name="base" value="." /> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /> <param name="wmode" value="transparent" /> <param name="scale" value="noscale" /> <embed src="http://www.udemy.com/static/flash/player5.9.swf" quality="high" bgcolor="#ffffff" width="400" height="300" name="" align="" wmode="transparent" scale="noscale" base="." allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="never" play="true" loop="false" quality="high" flashvars="config=http://www.udemy.com/asset/export.html%3Fuaid%3DE0ofeFxTVw%3D%3D%26displayType%3Dxml%26uaidh%3D7249daba21f76e3554258a3069f7ffe9%26ulid%3DE0oSd1xWVw%3D%3D%26ulidh%3D9e81b0490eda6422728d5fa89a76d51d" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer"> </embed> </object>

Yeah, that embed code doesn't work. I just tried it. We have HTML code turned OFF in the Customization forum. It is ON here in this forum (this thread was moved from DGrin Support Forum). I can only think that sharing is off in the host site or that the code is somehow b0rked.

Ahh..the widget works great. Just not on my thread in the customizatoin forum.

Anything you guys can do to help me out?

Backup plan would be to use an image of the video with a hyperlink to the course.

How about if I just move this entire thread into the customization forum?

Note: Did just that.

That's awfully nice of ya - but a message about trying to embed videos in a post won't attract the audience I think that would want to see my customization course.

Any other options?

Where are you hosting the video? SmugMug videos embed easy peasy, no workarounds required.
