The Sisters are Missionaries of Charity nuns; the same order
that Mother Teresa was in. Normally, you refer to a nun's
garb as a "habit", but in the MoC they are saris. These
nuns take a vow of poverty and all they own are three
saris (one to wear, one to wash, and one to mend), sandals,
eating implements (including a begging bowl), a rosary, a crucifix,
and - in cold countries - a shawl.

As far as the photograph, it's a bit dark. I'd like to see the
whites whiter while leaving the blacks black.

Thanks for the explanation Tony, much appreciated, I didn't know what order they belonged to.

The shot is dark, it was bad light, low contrast and the middle nun is black (lost all detail). Lightening drives up the noise (diminishing returns)

Hey Tony, I feel compelled to say: You took a posted capture (not suitable for printing) and turned it into an informative PJ vignette

Thanks and I'm sure the other viewers appreciate it.

I took a lesson from Tom (Black Mamba) and his automobile images.
Tom does some excellent work in his photographs of classic
automobiles (seen in "Other Cool Shots"), but of equal interest are
his comments about the history and pedigree of the car itself.

It's not always necessary or appropriate - especially in this forum- but
when it adds to the image's interest it's worth adding.
