Tutorials

Ever find yourself wondering just how someone managed to create an image using different effects?

Here are three simple tutorials we hope will encourage you to try something new.

The Hot Seat

A lifelong interest in landscape photography has led Eyal Oren to make a study of his adopted hometown of Marblehead, MA. As you can see, his dedication is paying off!

My bug of the week
First sighting of one of these gorgeous little wasps this year. They are normally very hyperactive and difficult to capture but this one did allow me to hold the cornflower bud it was sitting on for a shot.
Then instead of disappearing off, it decided to investigate my finger nail. It then took off but much to my suprise came back and landed again on my hand - even managed to change camera settings with it sitting on my hand.
It then took off again but this time landed on the nearby potentilla .

Beautiful wasp Brian. I'm envious you managed to photograph it. I've seen them a few times but never managed a shot as they're too busy.

Favourite frame is the last one. Really lovely colours.

#1 and #6 are very well done.. very naturalistic. I need an MPE 60 in my bag That or 120+mm in extension tubes heheh. Probably more realistic in the new lens tbh. LV your images still amaze even after all these years. Keep gardening and documenting!

Thanks For the comments.
I used to use 65mm of tubes and a reversed 50mm lens on my old sigma 105 to get to 4:1 mag. The MPE-65 is just a lot more conveniant in use

I love the colors and look of this one. From the top it looks like the blue hornets we have over the pond here (which technically are wasps) but from the side yours is much cuter and more colorful
