Landed a Nikon D4 and....
I could hardly be happier Previously I've only owned "prosumer" bodies and this is definately a game changer for my photography. Just a couple of samples from the weekend with the D4 attached to my 200-400VR

This one was the 200-400 plus 1.4x TC.

Wow, Dan! Both are terrific--perfect exposure, perfectly sharp, and just great detail. You should be thrilled! I am thrilled for you! Best, Pam

Congrats with the new toy and with the really awesome results it can obviously produce.

I can surely imagine that you're one happy human being right now and will stay that way for many shutter-clicks to come.

Now you can change your "dream goodies" in your profile. I hope to change mine in few months.

Thanks for the comments. I am happy with the new hardware. Also relieved. It was a little unnerving to drop that kind of cash on a camera. Particularly because all of the ones I've purchased previously were incremental improvements over prior models. This one was a huge step change. Maybe not for D3s shooters, but for a D300/D7k shooter it was HUGE.

Great photos.

People say that it is the person behind the camera that makes the difference, and to a point, that is absolutely true, but better equipment really can up your game as shown here.

The same person behind both cameras should be a good equipment test. Though it is true they have to be pointed in the right direction

Amazing pictures, love the detail.
I've been waiting for my D4 since February (!)
Its really interesting to see what great shots the d4 can produce, as nearly all the other info out there about the d4 is comparisons with the D3, which I'm not that interested in as I will be stepping up from a D300/700 like you.

I'm hoping the step up is going to be an impressive & significant one, and your post has gone a long way to have me believing that 100%!!

Thanks For posting

The change from D700 may not be as dramatic as from DX series. All I've owned previously were DX bodies, 70, 200, 300, 7k. But by any standard the D4 is one darned impressive camera.
