Hiding Smugmug Footer?
Hello all. I've noticed that I can't get the gosh darn Smugmug footer to be hidden after trying both #footer {display: none;}...

Any suggestions please?

That's because you're not allowed to hide the smugmug footer.

We were allowed until this latest update to at least put in something different. I ran into this also. My footer looked like the one that is in place currently, but without the direct link to Smugmug. My issue as a Pro Account holder is that I don't want to make it "too easy" for my customers to view actual print prices.

I'm hoping Smugmug will reconsider this one or at least give us some options.

I'm sure I will be hearing a song and it won't be one I like. At least I've voiced my concern!

Hi Fred,

No song here - thanks for letting us know how you feel! We really appreciate it. Can you explain what "too easy" is for actual print prices? I don't see that in the footer...

Andy,

Thanks for your reply. I didn't really want a direct link to Smugmug at all. Now the new footer has a link to the main Smugmug website, then someone can click on the Print & Gifts link (http://www.smugmug.com/prints/catalog.mg) and view actual prices.

Again, I understand why Smugmug wants their name at the bottom and I respected that previously, but did remove their link.

I hope that helps explain it. Again, my concern is from a Pro Account standpoint. I'm trying to use Co-Branding and keep the Smugmug portion out of the picture as much as possible. Similar to my "main" web hosting company, you wouldn't know which company I use unless you are technically savvy.

Thanks!

The link could be changed with JavaScript if that's allowed

It is possible with JavaScript to remove/change the link in the standard footer without changing any of the visuals. It would be just a few lines of JavaScript in an onload handler for the page. I don't know if smugmug is OK with you doing that or not. But, if it's allowed and you want to do it, I could help show you how to do it.

Actually the answer is very simple - if, as a pro, you put *anything* in your co-branding footer - say a custom footer - or even just one blank space - the big smugmug footer automagically goes away and the mini-footer is put there.

I hope this helps,

John,

Thanks for the offer. I may take you up on it if Smugmug isn't able to offer an option. I really do appreciate it!

Andy,

Thanks again. I already have the small Smugmug footer, but there is still a link in it also. Maybe JT will offer a workaround for the Pro Accounts!?!? Thanks again for trying to help!

Regards,
Fred

I'm not sure which question you were answering Andy, but even the mini-footer still has the smugmug link that I thought is what was being asked about.

So how do I get rid of the Shopping Cart link in the footer - I don't want that and it used to work fine?

Thanks

Right - and that will always stay. The other footer has a whole bunch of links - similar to what's on the footer of www.smugmug.com

Thanks

Hi Thanks for posting -
The mini-footer cannot be changed, I wish I had a better answer for you.

I totally dig your site btw

Thanks! But booo! I've removed all the "Add to cart" links throughout the site so nobody can actually buy anything if they go in through my site, so it seems a bit of an oversight.

Doesn't putting this in your CSS do it ?!?

.cartlink_footer { display: none; }

....works for me.
