Using form to upload via email -- won't work!
I'm trying to make a simple way for non-SmugMug students in my workshops to upload images into one of my galleries. I have a pro account (http://galleries.wenmeihill.com) and I want them to load their images to an unlisted gallery. Here's what I've done:
I created a form on my website (using the Contact Form 7 plugin for Wordpress) through which students can upload up to 5 images at a time. I set up the form so that it emails the form and attachments, in plain text, to wenmeihill@email.smugmug.com with my Email Password as the subject. I thought this would send everything to my Email gallery in my SmugMug account, but it's not working! It creates the gallery, but no images are uploaded. (The same thing happens when I simply try to email images to my gallery using my Apple mail client. The only way I can get it to work is if I use webmail.) I've checked to make sure the images are coming through as attachments in the email and that the email is in plain text. The form side of the equation seems to be working correctly -- it's just not making it through to the SmugMug side. Has anyone else had this issue? Any ideas or suggestions? I appreciate your help! ~ Wenmei |

Or another option -- does anyone know how I can add Upload functionality to certain galleries? That would make the whole thing easier. The regional Smug pages have that functionality (http://seattlesmug.smugmug.com/Uploa...1355599_8PLqLx). Does anyone happen to know how they did that?

Contact Jerry HERE, I'm pretty sure he made the up-loader. And you can vote for this feature to be added to smugmug HERE |

Thanks Joe! I will contact Jerry, although I don't really have the budget to pay for customization (hence my attempts to cobble something together myself). I did vote for the feature to be added!
I've talked to SmugMug support about this too and they don't have any ideas. They sent me over here because of the customization factor of my attempted solution, but the problem seems to be the upload via email part. Argh! |

As an alternative for now, try just using jot-form..its a free service, and it has an uploader form.....just google it

I've actually tried Jot Form too (that's what I already use for various other forms in my business) but I can't get the email part to work there either. I have the form send the message and attachments in plain text to my Smugmug email gallery (with the password in the subject line), but once again nothing shows up in the gallery. I suspect it is somehow related to the bug that makes Apple mail email uploads not work, but I haven't been able to find a solution for that other then "Don't use Apple mail". I thought by using a form to submit a plain-text email, I would bypass whatever the email upload issue is, but it's still not working. (However, I can have the form email to my Yahoo account, and then I forward the email to my Smugmug and it works just fine.)
Yes, I do have a hosting account and I would appreciate the info about the php/script! |
