Tutorials

Ever find yourself wondering just how someone managed to create an image using different effects?

Here are three simple tutorials we hope will encourage you to try something new.

The Hot Seat

A lifelong interest in landscape photography has led Eyal Oren to make a study of his adopted hometown of Marblehead, MA. As you can see, his dedication is paying off!

Africa!

This is a lily curling up around its center. Any critiques or thoughts based on the challenge.

I like it! I tend to like abstracts.

You might try angling it a bit and have the lead in more off center.

I am a big fan of abstract photography as well. I do like this picture a lot but I think for THIS competition, the picture would suffer because it is not easily recognizable. I agree that maybe a different angle would help.

I see two vanishing points in this and they draw me in different directions. The obvious line is one, but the shape of the flower becomes conical on the right. It leads me right out of the image.

I think this needs to be brighter. It would also be stronger if you could use the Rule of Thirds.

I agree that brightening it might be a good idea, but I like it!
