Hey Gus,
You really have become a birdman. You really have some colorful birds to shoot you lucky man. This is how I got hooked. A bird here a bird there and then that first egret shot ![]() Time to start saving up for that long glass. If you want I have a spare egret costume that I could send to you (helps you blend in).

Guys why is the kookaburra sharp & the sacerd kingfisher not ?
Both same light...same camera/lens/operator same direction etc. I took many of each of a tripod with a remote at the same F/stops etc & well & trully a fast enough shutter for a tripod. There was no back focusing going on Is it just operator or will these things just do this from time to time ??? |

I don't know the exact answer to why the Kingfisher isn't sharp but a couple of guesses would be:

Yeah i sort of thinking along those same lines steve. It just annoys me when i can get it right & wrong with 5 mins of each shot.
The old kookaburra is a very big bird as KF'ers go & the other chap is maybe only 8" long. Tks Gus |

Almost forgot this little chap...a Red Backed Fairy Wren. Very hard to shoot as they spin on one spot so fast you cant see it with you eye !! They are only maybe 2" high also & he/she wouldnt let me closer than 30 feet.
I had lost my light at this stage
