Newbie intro w/pics
This seems like a cool forum. I'm having a great time reading all your posts, and thought I'd say hello and share a couple of my pictures.

I'm an editor for a high-tech market research company. I've been into photography for 15 years, but only casually, so I have a ton to learn. I'm fairly new to digital (got my Rebel about a year ago), so I'm working to learn PhotoShop and printing. Kid photos are my main interest lately, but as luck would have it my young daughter is a totally uncooperative subject. Luckily I'm happiest skipping look-in-the-lens and grin photos anyway, and have lots of kid friends and relatives on hand.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Hiya Laurie and welcome

Your pics are all very nice I sort of thought the first one was soft or maybe had a too shallow DOF, but the more I looked at it the more those eyes seemed to be perfectly focused and just right in regards to sharpness. Love the eyes in the 2nd shot. The head-to-head shot is priceless The last one is also very nice

Glad you decided to jump in and post some of your fine pics and I hope to see more of them in the future

Steve

Yeah Steve, it was shot w/the Canon 50mm f1.4, at f1.8, and I wish I'd stepped back a little to get her eyelids sharper--only parts of her irises seem sharp to me. I did want it soft except the eyes, but it's a bit too shallow I think.

Hi Laurie...

I love the B&W with the heads together... so much natural feelings seen here and I also like the natural beach shot. Capturing those fleeting moments when it 'appears' they don't know the camera is there are my favorite.
