Password-Protected Galleries
Hi,

I know how to replace the thumbnail for a password protected gallery, but I decided to make the gallery both password-protected as well as private(invisible). I then put these galleries into a share group. Now it has reverted back to the the ugly padlock image and it won't let me change it.

In case you're wondering why I wanted to put password protected galleries in a sharegroup....I don't like using categories I think its too many clicks to get to my photos so I prefer using smugmug "galleries" instead. I don't want my homepage to be saturated with thumbnails from every private event I shoot. I'd rather just have it set up as a gallery with simple album titles such as "landcape" "portraits" etc. I plan to have a navbar link in my header that will link to a sharegroup that contains all my password-protected galleries for friends and family members to access.

But I don't want the ugly padlock image!

If you know how to solve this problem or have a better idea of organizing my site then please let me know =)

Here is a link to the sharegroup to see what I'm talking about. I havn't created a button for it yet in my header but I plan to:

Notice how the album "Vietnam 2005" which is in my featured galleries on my homepage has a nice thumbnail whereas the same album in the Sharegroup has the ugly padlock thumbnail.

Thanks,

Denny

I believe the answer is to feature a photo for each gallery. Choose one photo, pull down the photo tools menu and select Feature this Photo.

Yeah, I know that it was working when the gallery was public but once I made it private and put it into a sharegroup. The sharegroup page has the ugly thumbnails.

Notice how "Vietnam 2005" which is also a featured gallery on my homepage looks fine on the homepage but not in the sharegroup page.

Nice catch. It's a bug. :)

We'll get it fixed, but it might be awhile since we just rolled our latest release out.

Thanks for finding it and letting us know!
