The Hot Seat

A lifelong interest in landscape photography has led Eyal Oren to make a study of his adopted hometown of Marblehead, MA. As you can see, his dedication is paying off!

On Stage
I'm new here. I tend to do a lot of band/ promo photography. These are a few recent favorites.

Welcome to DGRIN.

It's always cool to see performance shots especially since I don't get out much. Nice shots though I would like a closer image in #1 to see more detail. #3 is very nice.

I have not done much shooting in similar conditions (only high school band and drama). Do these print well or do they need to be brighter to print?

I mainly use a 50mm f1/8. You have to be in full auto or everything will end up blury. I have issues with pixilation (mentally that is, I can't stand it), so I try not to go above ISO 800. My next lens (soon i hope) will be a Tamron 28-75 f/2.8

The shots do print well, though concert photography tends to mostly be a digital image realm.

Nice shots.

Why? That doesn't make sense to me. Blurriness means your shutter speed is too slow. Shooing auto doesn't enable a faster shutter speed.

because even at f/1.8 or f/2 in that dark of a room with ISO 800 or less, the shutter speed when left in a semi-manual mode will be under 1/40. Band members are so inconsiderate of the photographer that they insist on constantly moving while on stage. A 1/40 shutter speed is going to give you crap pictures under those conditions.

I still don't understand, but it seems to be working for you. Keep up the good work.
