Eek7 Disable pop up on right side of photos?
Hi,

I'm havin' some issues that would all be solved if I could just disable the pop-up on the right side of my photos. (You know - the area with the download for free button?) SmugMug email support told me to set my photos to medium size and watermark them. But, users are still able to download the medium size for free and that's not cool.

And side rant: I'm not really sure why a site where you SELL your photographs would EVER provide an option to download images for free... let alone as a default setting...

Hello, the download button always shows for you, as a convenience. Log out, our use a second browser, to see your site how a customer sees it - they won't see the download button

Thanks for the reply.

I just don't understand how this one client is doing it then. He was able to download each image, and he put them in a Power Point for free... screen grabs are way lower res than this client's ppt. :( Live 'n learn I guess.

Thanks again.

If you post a link to that gallery, we can take a look at what's available and offer suggestions.

Any photo that shows on the screen, it's just a mater of using a direct photo
link like this. But only the largest size you allow is available.

You can disable collecting in your control panel, settings tab.

Yes, You can "disable" the download folder (folder with a green arrow) because it's hidden when you're logged out. It will always show up when you're logged in, but another user will not be able to see it.

You can disable the collect button (circle with a plus sign) here: (bottom of this page) http://www.smugmug.com/help/collecting-photos

You can disable the thumb up and thumb down via by putting this Java Script into your "Bottom JavaScript."

displaySmugPopular = false;

under the advanced settings in your customizer.

Unfortunately, I do not think we can disable the pop-up entirely. :(

As Andy said in his post, you need to disable collecting. That will remove the collecting icon.

Go to your control panel, settings, scroll down to the Site-wide Features, and set "Allow Collecting" to disabled.

If you don't want to allow viewers to click thumbs up or down on your photos, go into the settings for your galleries and set "photo rank" to no.

If you turn off all options that are shown in the sliding pop-up it will disappear.

I think the issue was in Gallery Settings under Look & Feel, i had the Appearance button checked instead of Custom. The pop ups went away when i changed that...So i guess the next question would be, is it not possible to have the SmugMug appearance without the pop ups..
thanks for all the help and input!!

Appearance set to smugmug means that you don't want any of your customizations used - you get a non-customized look. Is that what you're looking for?

Please add your smug url to your signature so it is always available to the helpers here; it is very difficult to help you without a link to your site. Click You! on the navbar above, then Edit Signature.

You are allowing access to the Originals. Set the largest display size to anything other than Original and the download button will be gone for your viewers (but still available to you).

You can, just add this to the Bottom JavaScript box of your advanced customization page:

showPhotoBar = false;

i guess there's diff ways to cut the cake. =)

eric, is there a way to allow it to pop up while i'm logged in? i like using the collect photo button, but obviously don't want anyone viewing my site to see the pop up.

thanks

Might try this.

if (YD.hasClass(document.body, "notLoggedIn"))
{showPhotoBar = false;}
