New SmugMug to Facebook app

Hi all,

Had a go at building a facebook app. Wrote Photo Smuggler to share SmugMug photos in a facebook profile. It automatically creates a facebook album and imports its SmugMug photos. There are others out there, but wanted to give it a go myself

Seems to work ok with my nickname (http://xenodium.smugmug.com), but I'm looking to get others to try and give feedback. Note that this is the first release. Let me know if you have problems, questions, or suggestions.

Very interesting. Can you choose certain sizes and such? Does it upload full resolutions or just the max size of the gallery?

Worked great for me. I just used it because SmugImport seemed to have a problem tonight.

Something I liked in SmugImport that seems to have disappeared was the ability to approve/reject images after the images were imported, but before the album was published.
I also wished it brought the captions over like SmugImport does (did?).

Works really well - be good to be able to choose which photos to bring across, and also to pull captions through...

you know what i want as (at least part of) the caption? a smugmug buy link for that particular photo. - or did i miss an app that already does that?

Hi,
I'd love to give this a go, but for some reason none of the Facebook apps to import SmugMug photos are working right now. Any idea what's going on?

Sorry folks, photo smuggler was broken for quite some time. Facebook deleted the app by mistake and did not restore it properly. I spent a ton of time trying to figure out what was broken. It's more or less working now. May have some broken bits still. Lemme know if you have problems. If you like the app, please leave me some good feedback at my page:

This works only for FB profiles and not FB pages? I have a page I use for photography as I wish to keep my profile for family and friends only.

That's right. It only supports personal profile. Last I looked into supporting pages, Facebook did not have a mechanism for me to add this feature. Will totally look into it when available.

This is pretty awesome.

Here's what I'd like to see to make it even more awesome:

- Allow smuggling to a Facebook page.

- Handle galleries with more than 200 images. When it reaches 200 in a Facebook album, the connection times out. Trying again just makes a new gallery and starts over from the beginning. It should make the first album with 200 photos, then automatically make a second with the next 200 photos, etc.

- Add a cancel option. I closed the app when I realized that it was trying to re-upload the first 200 photos from my SmugMug site, but they kept coming in to Facebook until they had finished.

Worked Once Stopped Working. How do you write in the album location? What is the exact grammar? Whole link? Name of album? Exactly how? Brings up : you are not logged in. I am logged in... then just flashes up a screen that instantly vanishes?

Thaks for the feedback.

When time permits, I'll have a go at adding page support. It has been a popular request. Will also have a think about the 200 limit as well. Cancel may be a little trickier.

Hi Marty. Is it still broken for you? In the first screen, add your smugmug username in the text box. Click next. That will then give you a list of all smugmug albums you currently have. Hope that helps.

Been working on adding page support to photo smuggler... Looks like I got it working, but I tested it very little. Can someone confirm posting pictures to pages is working?

You should now see a drop-down to select what you are posting as (ie. yourself or as page)...

It's possible the app is failing because of permissions. It now requires extra facebook permissions to post to your page. Try uninstalling the app and installing again.

Anyone interested in posting photos to facebook page, please get in touch. Perhaps we can figure out why it isn't working for some if we talk over skype and try different things.
