Sitka, Alaska Day 3

This morning we rose early, and went out to sea again. Because there were 9 of us plus Capt. Dan, we had to split
up into 2 boats, to accommodate for space. This was my 2nd day of not going with Capt Dan, a real bummer.
Our Captain for Day 2 and Day 3 was Davey Lubin. He was a terrific host, a wonderful storyteller and teacher.

As we left the Sitka Harbor, there was some nice light coming from the mountains.




It wasn’t too long before the whales appeared again.



This is the whale, I think, that went under our boat a few seconds later.
There was much concern, albeit about nothing.



I continue to be amazed at the power in the tail.



Move over! I need space to jump too!



Is this guy the king or what!?



Eagles are abundant around Sitka. In fact, the Sitka area has the largest concentration of Bald Eagles in North America.
And since Bald Eagles only exist in North America, that means Sitka has the largest concentration in the world.:giggle



















Davey took us into this cove, where we had a chance to go ashore and explore.

This kelp was everywhere.








That evening we went into Tongass National Forest (I think), where it overlooked the bay and had
fresh Salmon cooked on charcoal.
It was the best tasting fish I have ever had.







Afterwards, we went into the forest to snap a few shots.

Turning 180 degrees on our heels gave us this view.
