Colour or Black n' White?

Here's a shot where I like both treatments. What do you think?

    The color version is fantastic clap.gif.

    I believe the monochrome version is more dramatic.

    In the colour image (which is very nice btw) your eye is drawn to the colours and reflections on the wet street whereas in the b&w image its all about the man on the street and his journey home with his shopping ( my interpretation).

    Just my 2 cents worth and I will qualify it by saying I love B&W!

    Almost regretfully (because the color version is very pretty), I have to agree with Brad. In the color version, the man is just a distracting hole in the middle of all the colors, whereas in the B&W version he is the point of the image. The sense of solitude comes through better without color.

    I have a preference for the color. I think of the guy as one of the essential elements, but not the main subject as the strength of this photo is in the compositional elements, and color adds to this.

    (FWIW, on my monitor for some of your pics (including these), they are too large for me to view without scrolling. I use the XL copy from my smugmug to view it all in MY monitor. I do not know if this is common to others' computers/monitors. Most other posts I can view without the scrolling.)

    Between these two, I prefer color, but I suggest that pure B&W would be an improvement.

    I agree, the colored version looks good with the subtle colors. But, as a preference, I like the B&W more, as it puts heavy emphasis on the person walking.
