Can't you view the galleries through the website? And isn't the app only $3 if you do want it?

I would absolutely love to have an iPad but, in the the meantime, I have to pay for an app to view my Smugmug galleries on my iPhone? That just doesn't seem right.... :(
yoursite.smugmug.com/m

or yourdomain.com/m

:) NO $

I acknowledge that $3 isn't a whole lot of money, but I think it's wrong that I should have to pay when I have a Pro account. (Especially considering there's already an app for iPad that could presumably be adapted for iphone?)

I must confess that I don't understand that mentality at all. When you signed up for a pro account did it advertise that you would get a free iPhone app with your membership? If not, how can it be "wrong" that you don't get one for free?

In fact, our iPad app is free. We do not charge for our iPad app or our iPhone app. Period. I'm not sure where the notion of $3 app came from. But that's not SmugMug

SmugMug does not charge for our apps.

They may be referring to the Smugwallet app - which was developed by another party - not smugmug - and costs $2.99.

It is a very good app for the iPhone - well designed and worth the price.

Yes, I was referring to Smugmugwallet, and it's glad to know it's worth it, so thanks!

Pupator: You're correct in saying that they didn't promise a free iPhone app with my membership, but neither did any of the other websites that I have iPhone apps for. My frustration lies in the fact that there is an app for iPad, but not for iPhone. It just seems silly (and a bit thoughtless) that they would not have also made the app available for iPhone, which MANY of us have. (I'm willing to bet many, many more than have iPads.)

Soon we'll have a uniform app, we hope.

In the meantime, yoursite.smugmug.com/m has always worked beautifully on iPhone

Grinny Love
I bought an iPad for my wife, and love that she can see our archived photos on such a great screen, but the inability to view the galleries as they are on the website is a huge bummer. I have all of our pictures set up chronologically on SmugMug, but when she logs in on the iPad she sees a bunch of options which may or may not grab the subject she wants.

Analogy alert: Sometimes she would just like to roll the screen gradually through our last months/years like looking at a photo album. Instead she's looking at a shelf of boxes with subject labels taped to the front.

Thanks for the amazing website!

Have you tried the SmugMug app? It is very powerful and I use it quite a bit. A suggestion though the first time you sync make sure you are on WiFi and not 3G - DAMHIK, IJK.

Thanks for the kind reply! Yes, I wasn't specific enough. I am indeed using the SmugMug app, and it is the SmugMug app on which I would like to view galleries as they are listed on my SmugMug page. This works without issue on the SmugMug Android app. The iPad app looks great though!

WiFi where you have the WiFi access. 3G where you do not have WiFi access alone or via other means such as iPhone tethering or other mobile hotspot devices.
