How to share with Facebook
So I just tried sharing a gallery on my FB account. I clicked, "Open a new window and log into FB." It didn't seem to do anything. Then it came back with the, "Share on FB," button. But it tells me I'm not allowed to share on FB. I'm guessing I have to tell FB it's ok to share stuff from SM but I don't know how.

Any help?

Thanks.

Hi Rick,

You do have to establish that sharing photos is trusted before Facebook will allow it. What I do is log into Facebook, stay logged in. Now, navigate to your SmugMug account and login. Then go to the photo and try to share it. You should get the challenge to allow posting of the photos. Accept that and it should process. Sometimes this does get mucked up and you have to go to Facebook and revoke access before it will allow you to reconnect it. The key is to be logged in at both locations so that the connection can be made.

That's how I did it but nothing came up to ask for my permission like I've seen before. Any way to, "force," it to ask me?

Thanks.

Trying again but it's not letting me. Just gives me the, "Share on Facebook," button but, when I click on it, nothing happens. Tried logging out and back in (on SM). Scratching my head on this one...

Ok, got it to (at least) try and post to Facebook but it keeps telling me the application doesn't have permission. How do I get to the application on Facebook to give it permission? I looked all over but can't find it. I found a SM import app, which I gave permission to but it seems to only allow me to import from within FB and it doesn't seem to make much sense anyway.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Just to let you know, I have never been able to post to FaceBook using Safari. So, if you are using that then try using Chrome or Firefox to post, that works for me.

Yeah, they just sent me to FF but I HATE HATE HATE FF and love my Safari. I really hope they get it working. FF is slow and, well, sucks. Safari is FAST and, well, doesn't suck.

Thanks.

The best thing to do is to submit a ticket to the help desk letting us know you're having a problem. Mention in there that you were speaking with me, so they know to let me know. Then, hit this URL:
http://www.smugmug.com/services/besocial/enabledebug.mg

And then try to post again.

This will put you in debug mode, and send me the data from FaceBook when you try to post. That will help us figure out where the problem is.

Thanks for your patience,
Scott.

Was working with someone. They confirmed the app doesn't support Safari. I would like to see Safari support. Should I still do this? If so I'll gladly do it.

Thanks.

Yeah, try the debugging, it will at least give me some data to work with to see what the problem is.

Ok, I'll do that as soon as I have a chance. Should be in the next day or two?
