Talking Password Protect Homepage Only
Hello,

I am trying to create a customized password protected page. I have tried to follow this thread http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=131178&highlight=homepage and this thread http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=137046&highlight=password+protect +homepage and I am still having a difficult time on where to place the code.

I don’t want to give my URL on the forum, since the whole point is for my site to be private and I can’t get it that way if my password screen isn’t working the way I want it to. I’d prefer to email my site to one of the Dgrin helpers. I can send that no problem. Pllllllleeease… ;o)

What I would like:
Have a customized password screen ONLY on my homepage just like this one: moobaalalala.smugmug.com. I would however, like my background to remain white just like my homepage – not black.

My problem: I am having issues with hiding my header and links. I can password protect the homepage, but people are still able to click on my links and view my blog and other website. I want EVERYTHING on the homepage to be hidden and just the customized password screen to be viewable. I’d like to be able to customize the text like on moobaalalala.smugmug.com too.

Please help if you can. Thank you!!!!

Why don't you just set a password for your whole site in the control panel? What does that not do that you need?

Also, please don't use black text in your posts. I (and many others) view dgrin with a black background so I can't read your posts.

hi, yes, I have the whole site password protected from the control panel. The problem is you can still see my header and links. It doesn't hide everything on the homepage. People can still click on the links and view where the links go to.

Sorry about the black text. When you go to post a new thread it defaults that color and when I previewed what I wrote before I posted it, it looked fine.

Take a look at customization #13 on this page. Without seeing your page, I can't know for sure that it would work, but I think it's designed for that issue. It adds a class onto the body tag when a password prompt is up so you can use CSS to hide things.
