I'm looking for a replacement for my 1.4ghz AMD laptop. Looking for a Intel dual core w/2G RAM, to start with. No AMD's please. Looking more towards Dell, IBM, Toshiba or other brand names. Let me know if you have, or can help...

Dunno what you're looking to spend but over the last month I've bought 3 laptops with Core2Duo processors from the Dell outlet for less than $500 after shipping and tax. One of them was under $400. It's worth checking out.

Good input... I've thought of going that route. Were yours the refurbs they offer? What warranty? Standard 1 year warranty or 90 days?

FOUND a Toshiba Satellite 2ghz Core2duo w/3G and a 250G that is less than a year old, locally on CL. I like it when peps buy things they can't use... saves me $$$ and guess I didn't want to buy new anyhow.

But I appreicate the inputs... posts, PMs and emails.

Glad you got one!

Just FYI for the future and others - Dell refurbs and scratch & dent come with the same 1 year warranty as a new laptop. I NEVER buy new Dells anymore. The last 10 I've bought for myself and others (work-related) have all been refurbs and scratch and dent.
