Tutorials

Ever find yourself wondering just how someone managed to create an image using different effects?

Here are three simple tutorials we hope will encourage you to try something new.

The Hot Seat

A lifelong interest in landscape photography has led Eyal Oren to make a study of his adopted hometown of Marblehead, MA. As you can see, his dedication is paying off!

Africa!

Dgrinners Harryb, Pathfinder, and others joined Andy Williams and Marc Muench on Safari in East Africa recently. Here are some awesome threads to check out!

Second set of Macros for 2010
More from the garden taken earlier today.

These are quite abstract in one respect and a little more out of the box than usual (the 1st 3 that is)

Image Date: 2010:01:04 14:16:35

This next shot is another water droplet. The first image shows the droplet taken with the Sigma 105 Macro lens and THREE Extension tubes. The 2nd and 3rd are to show the relative size of the blade of grass and the droplet. The droplet itself was about 1mm, maybe less.

Image Date: 2010:01:04 14:41:40
Flash Used: Yes (Manual)
Focal Length: 105.0mm
Exposure Time: 0.0063 s (1/160)
Aperture: f/11.0
ISO equiv: 100
White Balance: Manual
Metering Mode: Matrix
Exposure: Manual

This one was taken at 55mm. The blade of grass photographed is the one with the strand of web or hair on it (it was cloned out of the full mag version)

And one again, the blade of grass mostly as it would be seen normally. The arrow points to it. And yes, that IS a cigarette butt in there. Either blown in or dropped by an animal of some sort. Probably a nicotine addict bird :)

Cheers Brian. :)

I wasn't overly sure whether the frost ones would be worthwhile but I'm glad I did :)

I think the third frost shot is particularly nice.
