Problem adding music
I am trying to add music to my homepage and followed the smugmug instructions to doing it. BUT it isn't working. I put this in my CSS box
#my_music {display: none;} .homepage #my_music {display: block;} and this in my Custom Header <div id ="my_music"> <embed src="http://www.4shared.com/file/115698972/ed6ffe8d/Jason_Aldean_-_Big_Green_Tractor.html"width="70" height="18" autostart="true" loop="true"> </div> I end up getting a small gray bar at the top very very very left side where I can't see anything but the volume and it doesn't autoplay, or really play at all... can someone help? My website is www.kc1stphotography.com Thanks

I don't think this feature adds any value to your website and if anything devalues it because it doesn't work in the first place. At the end of the day it's your site and I'd hope you want it to be as accessible to as many visitors as possible regardless of their geographic location. Think about it! :-) |

Looks like you got this to work......you could also embed an Animoto video on your homepage, and set it to auto start when your page loads....makes for a neater slide show (imo)...and it already comes with music |

I highly recommend that you make sure that you know how your potential customers will react to unsolicited noise coming from their computers.
Do you think they might be accessing your site from their workplaces? Music is likely to be quite unwelcome then. Or maybe they are someone like me - if a site opens with music, music that I didn't request, I immediately close the page. I used to look for an off button, but no more. --- Denise

Same here -- I used to look for an "off" button or mute button, but that stopped a while back. Now I have a trigger finger on the close tab button and barely even see a site if it starts playing music.
I don't mind that sites have music available; just please, please, please make it optional. Let me hit the play button. (Especially when I'm at work, or in some other situation where I don't want to make noise.) Just a thought... (Oh - and don't forget about copyright. You do have a license to stream said music, right?)

I assume you want this for your homepage? You may find it easier to embed a player. In order for this to work, the player also has to embed the music or you have to point the player to your music. You will also need a place online where you can store your mp3s and it has to be capable of a live link, meaning if you were to put it in the address bar of a browser and press enter, the music will play as opposed to leading you to a download. A good place to store the files is Dropbox https://www.getdropbox.com/referrals/NTIzNTMwODg5.
Here are some links for players: http://flash-mp3-player.net/This one is very good; it will generate the code but you will need the link for your mp3. http://creativetechs.com/tipsblog/em...-on-your-blog/ This will embed a player with the music from this site except that it is like a radio station and each track gets announced; but it's free: http://magnatune.com/ And here are some music sites. It's up to you to determine if they are royalty free: http://www.amclassical.com/ http://www.musopen.com/music.php
