Help! Portable SD card back up - 2 choices
Hi everybody -

I'm travelling for 2 weeks in the French and Swiss alps. I'm traveling with about 20GB of SD cards, which I plan to max out each day. I'm looking into other options and would like to hear people's experience with stand alone storage devices. Here are the choices I've narrowed myself to:

1)My pack can fit my laptop. If I buy a 500 GB external hard drive for $120, I can back my photos up to both the hard drive and the laptop at the end of each day. I also have the option of not having to carry my laptop during most of my trip - It would be taken to the Inn each night for me.

2) Alternatively, I figure I'll only need about 250-300 GB of storage. I could buy a portable card reader for anywhere from $200-$300 and simply take it along. What's your experience with them? I need one that's highly reliable, but I don't need one to display pictures. Speed isn't really an issue, and neither is charge power, since I should be able to recharge it each night.

Any thoughts would be very helpful.
