How can I find Smugmug Pro sites?
Probably a very dumb question....

However, I want to upgrade my Smugmug account to the PRO level. I want to develop some design specifications before making the move and want to look at some existing PRO sites.

I did find a small number of sites (<5) from dGrin, but I want a large sample size.

Is there some search criteria or other way to identify Smugmug PRO sites?

Thanks in advance.

Bob.

Hey Bob,

It is hard for us to keep up with all the amazing customized sites out there!

Here are some to get you started:

http://kevinwinzeler.com/
http://leightonoc.smugmug.com/
http://halbergphotographers.smugmug.com/
http://swanphoto.smugmug.com/

Here are a few customization-for-hire companies that specialize in SM customization:

Thanks Markham for the fast response and links to some excellent sites!

I was kinda hoping that there would be some "little known" search string that would identify any SM PRO sites.... .....a label for something stuck down in the footer of a site.... LOL ...I guess that would be too easy.

Thanks again.

Bob.

Mine is a pro site if you'd like to take a gander at it. Nothing earth-shattering going on in terms of customization, mind you.

I have a pro site also. Slightly different than most. That is the great thing about Smugmug. So many options for those who choose the pro account.

What's interesting is that there are probably some pro sites that aren't as nice as power sites. The harsh fact, you can have a pro account and be the best photographer in the world, but if you don't have an eye for graphic design then your site may never look 'pro'.

BTW, I'm hanging myself out here a bit, mine's a pro site which follows the tried and tested formula here at SM. As an architect and photographer I've always followed the 'less is more' ethos. I'm not a big fan of frilly borders and complex wallpapers / colour schemes.

I wanted to jump in here and give Mr. Humphreys a thumbs-up.....

Chris-
I think you've out-did yourself on your web site...very awesome!! I've looked at a lot of smugmug sites and I think your site is defiantly one that stands out to me as being very professional and unique!
(I even borrowed a few ideas from ya )

Very nice site Chris - looks awesome.

How did you do the front page? I presume that is not a standard smugmug feature with the multiple photo slideshow.

I don't know how he did it, but you could just make a few photos like that in photoshop, and put them in a gallery for your slideshow to pull. That would probably be the easiest way to do it.

The Front page slide shows are done with a CSS code. My site is a pro site as well. It took a few days to figure it out, but all I did was set some photos into a particular gallary and told the front page to show that gallery. Now whenever anyone clicks on my site that slide show is what comes up. I don't have a portfolio done yet, so for now I just took one of my events and put them on the front.

Not sure how he did it but it was not just CSS. Remember CSS is for defining styles, not actions. It's done with flash or Javascript. Just a clarification. Later, Paul

Best SM site I've ever seen (sorry Andy). But no smugmug line at the bottom?

Hi Bob; I'm a recent SmugMug Pro convert. I just built my site (still a work in progress) within the past month using LOTS of help from the DGrin community, who have been great!

Its been a while since I've done this but is this the code? I found this in my Bio box.

********>
var ssConfig = {
AlbumID: 7980607,
newWindow: 'false',
transparent: 'true',
splash: 'http://www.smugmug.com/img/ria/ShizamSlides/smugmug_black.png',
showLogo: 'false',
clickToImage: 'true',
showThumbs: 'true',
showButtons: 'true',
crossFadeSpeed: '350'
};
SM.flash.insertSlideshow(600, 600, ssConfig, 'transparent');

The Album ID is the ID of what album you want to show up.

I am thinking that this is the way it has been done. A series of templated photo sets with the slideshow flicking through these.

I use this technique on my site for a slightly different effect. You can make something interesting effects by doing this.

Good job Scott. I like the effect.
