Google search results strips headers, footers
I recently covered an event called the Dinner of Champions. Sitemeter indicates that someone did a Google search for "dinner of champions, charlotte pictures" (http://www.google.com/search?q=dinne...lz=1I7GCNV_en). When following the link to my site, the web page does not contain the header and footer information. The Google search results page address is (http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/79984...0296166_q3vgm). The page address should be http://rgsharpe.smugmug.com/gallery/...20284070_72ugo. Can someone give me a clue as to what happened here and how I can get the correct address returned in Google searches?

Thanks.

We don't know why google indexes like that sometimes. I do know that it's happened to me, but then I look in few days and there's the normal url so that the header/footer and customizing all shows.

I think that Google have found the address while indexing smugmugs keywords. In this case rgs : see http://www.smugmug.com/keyword/all/rgs.
All photos on smugmug keyword searches reference a www.smugmug.com address.

A better suggestion, I think, is from http://www.smugmug.com/browse/Events. Recent galleries reference a www.smugmug.com/gallery/XXXXXXX-XXXXX URL. And from that URL photos are referenced like this: www.smugmug.com/gallery/xxxxxxx-xxxx/1/yyyyyyy-yyyy.

Just a suggestion. I do have the same problem and I hope it might help to find the reason why Google indexes like that.

Google could also find it on the communities: The recent galleries are referencing an www.smugmug.com/gallery/xxxxxx-xxxxx URL.

Google can also find www smugmug com / gallery / xxxxxxx-yyyyy links from smugmug gallery search pages like this one:
http://www.smugmug.com/search/index....rchWords=whale

Alle galleries on this are referencing a "www smugmug com / gallery" URL.

A lot of these search pages are indexed by Google.

My galleries indexed like this do not change to normal URL ever after many weeks.

I hope this can help solving the mystery.

Is it possible to add a js redirect from the www.smugmug.com to your domain
or nickname? Not sure if any parts of the customization is active though.
Might have to put in every gallery description. Just a wild thought.

Because your regular customization is not active when the URL is www.smugmug.com, the only place I know of that JS code could live would be in the album description or image captions. To make it effective, you'd have to put it in in every album description, but I don't see why it couldn't be done.

Google index my gallery under a different user account
My gallery http://lichtenhansen.smugmug.com/gallery/6995141_zanFG
have in addition to being indexed with an www smugmug URL also been indexed by Google under 2 different user accounts:

Same thing with other galleries of mine.
It is a big problem for me - This gallery used to have a fair Google rating. Now it is not rated at all.

Even with link juice to my gallery - How can I stop Google to index all these duplicate URL's when they are linked from high ranking pages inside Smugmug?

Help, please.
