USAF Thunderbirds
These were taken last fall at the National Championship Air Races in Reno.

The new Raptor also did a show:

Canon 30D, 70-200 4.0 IS (some photos with a 1.4X extender)

Hope you enjoyed them.
Comments and critiques always welcomed.

Great pics! Especially like the shot with the afterburner -- "Jet Noise, It's the Sound of Freedom!"

Cheers,

Gawwwwwwd they fly so close they leave no room for error
Love the formation flying

The third shot is freakin awesome, under/over or mirroring, I dunno what they call it, but it looks freakishly dangerous

Excellent Series Kevin ... Skippy

Beautiful captures!

Can you describe your rig & settings a bit more? What shutterspeed, ISO, etc.? Handheld/monopod/tripod? How much post processing? Those pictures are simply stunning!

Thanx for the comments everyone.

Tony, these were all shot in raw at f6.3 or 8.0 (aperture priority), with the shutter speeds between 1/1250 and 1/3200. Iso was at 400 and these were handheld. It's been awhile since I processed them, but I think there was some basic cropping, slight exposure adjustment, sharpening, noise reduction (although a couple of the photos posted look like they need a little more noise reduction). All post-processing was done in Lighroom.

Hope this helps. Kevin.
