Awhile back I flirted with digital photography but never gave it a second thought until recently. From what I've seen on posts, my equipment might not be up to par; but on a college student's budget, I was recently able to purchase the Sony F828 and took it out for a test drive today.

I know I have much to learn and so far this seems like a very good community to be a part of. Please comment on the following photos. I was walking out of the common's area here at the University and we always have cat's hanging around. This one in particular is always visiting the students and is not people-shy at all.

#1 - ISO64 1/60sec F/2.8

#2 - ISO64 1/80sec F/2.8

#3 - ISO64 1/80sec F/2.5

#4 - ISO64 1/60sec F/2.5

and finally I was playing around with the focal length/depth of field
#5 ISO64 1/125sec F/2.8... focal length on this one was 51mm

I'll appreciate any advice and comments about the photos and anything related to photography.

Hope you all find this well.

I like #2 and #1 the best. #1 is a nice pose (I know, cats never pose!). And I like the indifferent wxpression on the cat in #2. Your #4 shot is a little too busy.

    Keep shooting.

    Cute cat.

I knew, of course, that trees and plants had roots, stems, bark, branches and foliage that reached up toward the light. But I was coming to realize that the real magician was light itself.

    I use an 828 too
You got some really nice photos of the cat, lovely lighting.

Just keep practicing... play and enjoy. A wonderful time of year to have a digital camera with spring coming to your area.

    Keep posting.
